Eppure me ne è passata per le mani una del 1980 per un setup (amico di amico) con il manico in acero e suonava davvero benissimo. Era in condizioni da "closet classic" per altro... Chitarra riuscita? Chissà

Io ho avuto una 73 che aveva manico in mogano slim ma body pancake. Chitarra molto simile a quello che cerchi tu.

Io so che contro la muffa non c'è nulla di meglio della candeggina che la neutralizza. Ma la candeggina puzza altrettanto. Provato a sentire gli autolavaggi che fanno la sanificazione degli interni auto?

15 anni fa ho avuto una Ibanez Les Paul che era proprio come dici tu: semi-hollow! Suonava egregiamente ma poco ci azzeccava col suono LP. Aveva anche i PU Maxon, quelli strani che parevano singlecoil mascherati in humbucker

Ma chi ha detto che visto che sono CC i pu sono il meglio per quella chitarra? Il meglio per farci cosa poi? Rock blues marcio? Pettinato alla Bonamassa? Fusion? Hard Rock? Alla fine i pickups sono strumenti che riescono a captare sfumature e caratteristiche di uno strumento, talvolta amplificandole e talvolta valorizzando alcuni aspetti piuttosto che altri (attacco, ecc...). Quindi dico: cambia i PU e sperimenta. Costruisci il tuo suono. Prima però smanetta con il tuo ampli e i tuoi pedali perché,a volte, per aumentare o diminuire le medie basta girare qualche manopola.

Steve lo stopbar di Faber in alluminio apre parecchio. Di tutti quelli avuti/provati è quello più bright. Ottimo se hai una chitarra molto scura, meno adatto per il resto perché rischi di schiarire fin troppo.

Markus di LP ne ho avute e provate tante (non tantissime come qualcuno ha avuto la fortuna qui dentro) ma del discorso a grandi linee fra R8 e R9 che ho fatto a inizio 3d ne sono convinto. Fosse solo per la quantità di legno nel manico che oggettivamente sposta la voce verso una cosa rispetto l'altra. Io a Marco White consiglio un cambio PU e elettronica sulla R8 in suo possesso per capire come risolvere i problemi di cui ci ha parlato e orientarla sui suoi gusti in relazione anche al resto del suo set up. Successivamente cercare una LP complementare.

Marco te lo dico per esperienza: se sei da R8 lascia perdere le R9. Io ne ho avute diverse nel corso degli anni (di R8 e R9) e seppur i top della R9 sono da mangiare con gli occhi ho sempre preferito le R8. Non per una questione di manico (perché mi trovo bene con manici anche più piccini, basta abituarmi) ma perché la "voce" più ritmica e pienotta delle R8, se vuoi anche più "grezza", l'ho sempre preferita. Sulle Japan ti dico che se becchi il pezzo giusto e con i giusti upgrade ti ritrovi per le mani qualcosa a mio avviso dal rapporto qualità/prezzo ottimo ma devi farti andare giù la poly (seppur sottile) che non a tutti piace come feel sotto le mani. Il makeover lo sogno anche io da tempo per la mia R6/R4 ma sono troppo indeciso sul da farsi e sono comunque come minimo sempre 1600 + spese di corriere andata e ritorno (sbaglio?) per il pack1. Ma capire perché ti suona ingolfata al manico la tua R8 no? Io investirei sulla risoluzione di quel problema per prima cosa, perché makeover o no te la potresti godere sul serio

Qualcuno di voi sicuramente seguirà la sua pagina in Facebook: tempo fa il buon Stephen di SD Pickups ha fatto una interessante comparazione fra gli ABR-1 attualmente in commercio conrontandoli con un ABR-1 originale anni'60. Ecco più quello che è venuto fuori: Here's something I've suspected for some time now. I think there is only one company in the USA that makes ABR1 bridges. So, no matter who you buy them from, or claims that THEY are making them in their backroom shop somewhere is marketing hype. In these photos I am showing ABR1's from SM, Klu***, and Gibson Historic, and for comparison a 1962 vintage Gibson ABR1. Prices are all over the place, the Historic being about $80 and the Kluson about 38 bucks or $22 with wire. The Klu*** actually says "Gibson ABR1" on the bottom (ooops...) but has been ground off, but is still legible. The vintage ABR1 weighs 48 grams. The other 3 all weigh exactly the same 54 grams, and the width on them is also identical, but the '62 bridge is noticeable thinner, and kind of seems hand shaped on the ends, probably why it weighs less. The Historic bridge is one I really disliked alot, the other two are probably the same product, it lacks loudness, has no chirpy content, even though the saddles are brass it sounds thin and sterile. So if you are looking for a "repro" ABR1 wire or no wire bridge, and you are looking at USA made, get the cheapest one because they are probably all the same bridge, you only pay extra for some "aging" or for the privilege of buying from a company that charges too much. I notice some of these companies do not show the BOTTOM of their bridges because they all look the same. I personally recommend the Faber bridges, as being the most accurate sounding ABR1 though the low E strings is louder and more bassy than the vintage bridges. Anyway, I'm done buying these bridges, alot of money wasted for the same product. Look at the German made Faber or into what the Japanese are making, I may try some Japanese product, like Germans they produce high quality products without gouging or making "claims." To summarize, if you are buying an ABR1 bridge and the company says "made in USA," they are all selling the same exact bridge, I don't know what company is actually making them, its some factory somewhere that is making them for several brands. Meaning the Gibson HIstoric bridge for upwards of $80 is the same as what SM, and KLSN are selling its the SAME bridge. Tonite I did some simple metal testing on the bodies of every ABR1 I have, cheap Korean, Japanese, modern US made and the '63 vintage Gibson bridge. NONE of the modern ones are using the right metal for the body. I don't have a Gotoh to test, but I'm sure they are the same. The vintage ABR1 body material is RADICALLY different than any of these repro makers are using now. This explains why the vintage bridges had problems sometimes with sagging. So, the replica makers never even looked at that, and its why none of their products pass a simple acoustic authenticity test, NONE of them. Che titolo violento (oh, no!) ma che album meraviglioso! Seguo la band praticamente dagli inizi e conservo bellissimi ricordi di tanti loro live in posti più o meno piccoli e più o meno improvvisati. Già il precedente "Morire per la patria" era notevole...

Io credo anche che siamo nel 2016 ed è ovvio che ci vogliano anche dei prodotti di massa realizzati appunto in grande scala che tengano conto di un prezzo finale accessibile ai più. Materiali, tecniche costruttive e tanto altro sono alla base per confezionare il prezzo finale come lo sono anche le scelte di marketing. Ma credo che questa cosa sia una ovvietà. Gibson USA lo scorso anno ha fatto una cazzata con la propria linea e ora ne paga le conseguenze.

Come piacerebbe anche a me che succedesse così! Ma forse le TH non sono vicine a questo concetto? Ovvero nel 1958 ad esempio ci volevano 335 dollari per una ES335. In Italia se facevi l'operaio alla FIAT prendevi circa 33000 lire al mese che (se il cambio storico non sbaglia) erano 52 dollari. Quasi 7 stipendi per una chitarra e allora con il prezzo delle TH ci siamo anche.

Giorgio è come quando si parla di ampli a transistor che fanno cagare a prescindere solo perché abbiamo provato ampli di merda entry level: la poly spesso l'abbiamo vissuta su chitarre cheap o di media fascia. Se non ricordo male Huber ha fatto (o fa ancora) strumenti rifiniti con uno strato sottile di poly ma voglio sfidare chiunque a dire che la poly penalizzi quelle belle chitarre...
